This being said, there are some limitations. We do need something to measure and photograph to begin to rebuild. Sometimes we can find a similar part on the project itself to work with, but if this is not the case, we may be able to create an image that may be suitable as a replacement. Remember that when most of the older pieces where built, the technology of the time did not produce exact copies of each piece or component. This is one on of the elements that gives these cherished works their charm. Slight variations may be present, and never noticed until restoration begins.
